Fifteen years ago, the journey to finding the perfect bridal outfit felt more daunting than magical. At the time, if you were above a size 6, your options were limited—samples didn’t fit, mirrors didn’t flatter, and that special bridal experience so many dream of was often out of reach. It was disheartening to feel like I had to shrink myself to be seen as a bride. And then, I met Dave. Meeting Dave was a turning point. From the moment we connected, he saw me—not just my measurements, but my personality, my vision, and my heart. With effortless grace, he took my ideas and translated them into stunning sketches, allowing me to visualize exactly how my bridal lengha would look on me. He made me feel like I belonged in every room, like I deserved to shine. At the time, I was on a personal journey—working out, striving toward a goal weight for the wedding. I shared this with Dave in passing, and he responded with such genuine encouragement. He told me that if I reached my goal, any additional alterations or work needed on the outfit would be on him, no questions asked. That gesture went beyond business—it was an act of kindness, of belief in me, and it meant more than words can express. What followed was more than a client-designer relationship. Dave became a true friend. When my wedding day arrived, he wasn’t just the talent behind my outfit—he was an honored guest. As someone who had moved here and didn’t have much family nearby, I found myself feeling alone at times—especially during milestone moments. Dave and his wife, with open hearts and open arms, welcomed me into their home and their lives. They became family in every sense of the word. Now, 15 years later, Dave remains in my life—not only as my trusted designer, but as my chosen family. Working with the Wellgroomed team was truly a stress free process, which is exactly what I needed in the middle of wedding planning. I went to the Surry store with just 1 month left before my wedding. I was in panic trying to find a dress after my original dress fell through. The entire team was so kind and supportive. Their customer service makes you feel like you are a family member who is in need of help. They don’t pressure you into buying anything and they are quite honest with their opinions to help you pick an outfit that is flattering on you. Not only did I find a beautiful, very high quality dress, I also was able to get the alterations I needed within 2 weeks. They have an excellent in house tailor who got my measurements correct the first time around. The price point was also reasonable when considering the quality of the dress. The hand work was incredible and well crafted. The material was perfect. If I had more time, I could have customized a dress to my every specification. Weddings are stressful enough and I was relieved that I didn’t need to worry about the quality or service from the Wellgroomed team. Without a doubt, I recommend this store!!
Dave and his team were amazing! He made us feel like part of a family, remembering our names and making us feel truly welcome. At our request, he made adjustments to my daughter’s blouse and ensured her outfit was ready on time. The final product was absolutely beautiful. Dave and his team created these beautiful outfits for me on short notice, one was completely custom and the other was altered to fit me perfectly with added sewn in pleats. It was my first time buying my own outfits and they helped guide me for my specific dates. Once I was at the events and wearing these outfits, I received so many compliments - the quality is apparent!
